The Drexel Haiti Literary Tour, with a new group of Creative Writing students, for the second year returned to Love Orphanage on arrival day. The students raised $3,500 of the total $10,000 that was collected toward the purchase of land for Love Orphanage – not to mention that we transported 20 suitcases of clothing, flip-flops, toiletries, school, and art supplies! This year, we decided to match each Drexel student with a few children who served as their welcome buddies. The children and their buddies eagerly found each other, and shared laughter, smiles, and games – and of course shared a celebratory Haitian lunch together. After such a wonderful afternoon, it was truly hard to say goodbye. Love Orphanage has become irreplaceable part of the Drexel Haiti Literary program and we can’t think of a better way to have spend our first day in Haiti!
